PETER farewell
Dear friends of Peter
Sorry – it took some time to write this.
Above all, because we could not fully believe it. And still do not really understand it. Peter was much too alive to die. But he did – at least as alive as possible. He died on April 23, 2021, clear-headed, aware of his situation, without complaint at three o’clock in the morning at the Health Center in Paros.

Friends of Paros: “the new Archaeological and Cultural Park in Marathi can start operating in 2022”
It’s three months since the well-attended online meeting organized by the Friends of Paros and Antiparos to rescue and promote the ancient marble quarries, and many small steps have already been taken in this direction.
Φίλοι της Πάρου: “το νέο Αρχαιολογικό και Πολιτιστικό Πάρκο στο Μαράθι μπορεί να λειτουργήσει μέσα στο 2022”
Έχουν περάσει τρεις μήνες από τη διαδικτυακή ενημερωτική συνάντηση που οργάνωσαν με μεγάλη συμμετοχή οι Φίλοι της Πάρου και Αντιπάρου για τη διάσωση και ανάδειξη των αρχαίων λατομείων μαρμάρου και έχουν ήδη γίνει πολλά μικρά βήματα προς αυτή την κατεύθυνση.

Le Plan de Mobilité Urbaine est un projet de l’UE, un plan stratégique qui vise à répondre au besoin de mobilité d’aujourd’hui et de demain, pour une meilleure qualité de la vie dans la ville et à son périmètre. Parikia veut développer son plan dans le cadre de ce programme. Malheureusement, ce plan inclus une mesure extrêmement controversée qui consisterait à utiliser une partie de la place Agios Nikolaos, en face du Centre de Santé, pour y héberger le terminal des bus.

Το Σχέδιο Βιώσιμης Αστικής Κινητικότητας είναι ένα πρόγραμμα της ΕΕ, ένα στρατηγικό σχέδιο που στοχεύει στην κάλυψη των αναγκών κινητικότητας του σήμερα και του αύριο, για καλύτερη ποιότητα ζωής στην πόλη και την περίμετρο της. Η Παροικία αποφάσισε να αναπτύξει το σχέδιό της στο πλαίσιο αυτού του προγράμματος. Δυστυχώς, αυτό το σχέδιο περιλαμβάνει ένα εξαιρετικά αμφιλεγόμενο μέτρο που θα συνίστατο στη χρήση μέρους της πλατείας του Αγίου Νικολάου, μπροστά από το Κέντρο Υγείας, για τη στέγαση του τερματικού σταθμού λεωφορείων.

Το έργο για τη μετατροπή του αεροδρομίου της Πάρου σε διεθνές αεροδρόμιο φαίνεται να εξελίσσεται και πρόσφατα έλαβε την τελευταία έγκριση από τον αρμόδιο υπουργό.

The project to transform Paros airport into an international airport seems to be taking shape and recently received the latest approval from the titular minister.
Μήπως τα υδροπλάνα είναι η λύση?
Μέσα στις πολλές απόψεις που ακούγονται υπέρ και κατά της επέκτασης του αεροδρομίου της Πάρου, με μια μερίδα να θεωρεί την επέκταση αυτή προϋπόθεση για την καλύτερη εξυπηρέτηση των μεταφορών του νησιού και μια άλλη να θεωρεί ότι οδηγεί αναπόφευκτα σε αλόγιστη «ανάπτυξη» και καταστροφή του, σαν ‘μάνα’ εξ ουρανού ανακοινώθηκε το σχέδιο ανάπτυξης δικτύου μεταφορών με υδροπλάνα και 30 υδατοδρόμια στο Νότιο Αιγαίο και 150 σε ολόκληρη τη χώρα.
Are seaplanes the solution?
Among the many points of view that are heard for and against the expansion of Paros airport, several people see this expansion as a condition for a better offer of transport serving the island and others consider that it leads inevitably to a reckless kind of “development” and to the destruction of the Cycladic character of the island. The recent plan to create a network of hydroports and 30 seaplane water landing strips in the southern Aegean Sea and 150 across the country has been heralded as a godsend.
Les hydravions sont-ils la solution?
Parmi les nombreux points de vue qui se font entendre pour et contre l’expansion de l’aéroport de Paros, plusieurs personnes considérent cette expansion comme une condition pour un meilleure offre des transports desservant l’île et d’autres considérent qu’elle conduit inévitablement à un type de «développement» imprudent et à la destruction du caractère cycladique de l’île.
