Implementation of projects and new proposals for the Ancient Quarries

The non-profit organisation “Paros Ancient Marble Quarries Park” is organising an event on Saturday, 22 March 2025 with the aim of:
- Providing information on the actions that have been implemented or are in progress for the protection and promotion of the Ancient Quarries in Marathi.
- Presenting medium-term proposals and discussing the future of the archaeological site and the creation of an archaeological-cultural park.
The event is open to all local organisations, residents and friends of Paros. The presentations will be in Greek with English summaries.
PROGRAMME
18:30 – 19:30 Welcome – Refreshments
- Video screening on the quarries and their cultural heritage
- Photo exhibition from the competition on the theme of ancient quarries
- The book “Paros – The Ancient Quarries” by Christos Georgousis
19:30 Start – Introduction
- Information on the actions that have been implemented or are in progress: Studies for the protection of the underground galleries – Stabilisation measures – Land ownership issues etc.
- Presentation of proposals for the improvement of the archaeological area: Redesign of the entrance area – Visitor circulation – Parking etc.
- Creation of an archaeological-cultural park: Master Plan – Stability of underground galleries and visitor access – Visitor Centre/Museum etc.
- Discussion
20:30 Closing – Drinks & Bites
The presentations will be in Greek, with summaries in English.
