The FoP have seen this plan of the new airport superimposed on an aerial photograph. A comparison with the old airport (shown on the top right corner) shows cλearly the enormous size of the new airport. At 1,400 meters the new runway (shown in red outline) will allow small jets and turbo-prop planes with up to 100 passengers to use the airport, ensuring a higher capacity and reliable connection mainly with Athens. This would be a welcome improvement. But the plan also shows a much larger outline for an extended 2,000 m long runway. If this were to be built it would allow larger aircraft, such as those normally used for charter flights, to use the airport and would start the transformation of Paros to a mass tourism destination.
