In the courtyard of the former Primary School in Marathi

The efforts to protect and promote the Ancient Marble Quarries continue.

On Tuesday, 12/7/2022, at 20:00, in the courtyard of the former primary school of Marathi, those interested in the cultural heritage and the Ancient Quarries of Paros will have the opportunity to hear about the actions that have been launched and to exchange views on the strategy to create an archaeological and cultural park and achieve the recognition of the unique monument of the ancient quarries as a World Heritage site.

Speakers will include international experts, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and local government, as well as the associations that promoted the creation of the new non-profit company “Paros Ancient Marble Quarries Park AMKE”: Friends of Paros and Antiparos, Cultural Association “Archilochos”, Association of Marathi-Vounia “Ag. Minas”, Institute of Archaeology of Paros and Cyclades, Union of Paros-Antiparos Hoteliers and Federation of Parian Associations.

The non-profit company (AMKE) was created to promote the implementation of the necessary actions for creating an archaeological and cultural park in Marathi and, for this purpose, cooperates closely with and assists the Ephorate of Antiquities of the Cyclades and the Municipality of Paros.
The event of 12/7/2022 is organised by the non-profit company “Paros Ancient Marble Quarries Park AMKE” with the support and participation of the Friends of Paros and Antiparos and the Association of Marathi-Vounia “Ag. Minas”, who will host it at the association’s site in Marathi.

The event will be followed by a buffet and drinks courtesy of the Friends of Paros and Antiparos, while an optional area tour of the Quarries is planned before the event.

The event will appeal to Parians and friends of the island who are interested in the protection and promotion of the Ancient Quarries and eager to contribute with their enthusiasm, their knowledge or even with financial support. All are welcome!
